The hardest-working room in the house
A utility room is where laundry, boots, dogs, recycling and the overflow from the kitchen all live. We design ours to take that daily beating and still look good doing it — slatted painted doors, dovetailed drawers, integrated washing machines, butler sinks and hidden bins, all hand-made in our Mickfield workshop in Suffolk and fitted UK-wide.
Whether you need a compact boot room off the back door, a full second kitchen with laundry chutes and dog-shower bay, or a flush-panelled utility hidden behind concealed doors, the same workshop standards apply: solid hardwood frames, dovetailed drawer construction, hand-painted finishes in any Farrow & Ball or Little Greene colour, and ironmongery from Blum, Häfele or Samuel Heath. Built to be wiped down, repainted, and used hard for thirty years.
Most of our utility commissions sit alongside a Reeve & Co kitchen — designed in the same hand, finished in matching or contrasting paint, and detailed to feel like part of the same scheme. Standalone utility and boot-room projects are equally welcome, with the same level of design input and the same on-site fitting team.

Whether it’s a small boot room off the back door or a full second kitchen with laundry chutes and dog showers, the same hand-made joinery applies — built to be wiped down, repainted, and used hard.
Slatted painted doors
Tongue-and-groove or slatted panels, hand-painted in any colour. Easy to wipe, easy to repaint, hides the contents.
Hidden laundry
Built-in washing machines and tumble dryers behind matching doors. Sound-deadened cabinets and proper plumbing access.
Boot rooms
Cubby storage for boots and coats, dog beds, hooks at child height, slatted shoe racks. Designed around how a busy family actually uses the space.
What we build into a utility room
Laundry, properly hidden
Integrated washing machines and condenser dryers behind matching painted doors, on sound-deadened plinths with proper plumbing access. Drying cupboards with heated rails. Pull-out laundry baskets, ironing boards on slides, and worktops at standing height for folding.
Sinks, taps and counters
Belfast and butler sinks in fireclay, undermounted Quooker or Perrin & Rowe taps, and hardwearing surfaces — solid timber, honed granite, quartz composite or stainless steel. We size the sink for boots and dog-bath duty, not just hand-washing.
Boot storage
Tall cubbies for wellies and boots with slatted bases for drainage and ventilation, hooks at child and adult height, dedicated coat rails, and pull-out shoe drawers. Bench seating with hinged-lid storage. Heated airing cupboards above for damp coats.
Dog showers and pet bays
Tiled or stone-floored shower bays with hand-held sprays, fold-down ramps, towel rails and lockable feeding stations. Integrated kennel doors for working dogs. Hardwearing finishes that handle wet paws and muddy rolls without complaint.
The details that make it last
Dovetailed drawer boxes throughout. Solid timber backs and bases — never stapled hardboard. Soft-close hinges and full-extension runners as standard. Hand-painted finishes that can be touched-up or fully repainted on site decades later. Every fitting designed to be serviceable, not disposable.
